EC is paying attention to your baby's cues that they need to go. You've seen it, that funny look on their face right before they mess in a diaper? Every baby gives these cues from the minute they are born. They even give cues before they wet. If you pay attention to these cues you can save yourself a lot of diaper washing, as well as develop better communication with your baby, and that's just the start of the benefits!
